Waterpolo

Introduction
Welcome to the EuroGames water polo tournament! We're proud to be able to offer you full Friday of water polo, in a mixed competition. If enough only-women teams register, we of course will consider realising a separate women’s division.
At this moment, we are preparing the tournament as a mixed one, and we will make sure it will be a good one!

Anticipated number of participants
We are expecting around 5 to 10 mixed teams. Please note: early registration saves you money and makes organizing easier for us. In case the tournament doesn’t attract enough teams to play a good tournament, your money will be returned to you. However, in case you registered and your team doesn’t have enough players, in consultation we will put together an international team with the other individually registered water polo players, or will make sure you can be part of one of the other registered teams.

Tournament rules
Tournament rules will be in line with FINA regulations, with the following exceptions:
- Matches length might be different, based on the schedule (to be determined)
- Teams should consist of minimal 7 and maximal 15 players
Tournament rules are subject to change.

Type of tournament
The aim is to have preliminary rounds in the morning to separate the stronger from the less experienced teams, and so create 2 divisions (Trophy and Cup). In the afternoon followed by qualifying rounds, with the semi-finals and finals at the end of the day.

Competition days
The water polo tournament will be held on Friday July 22nd, 09:00 till approximately 19:00. Lunch in the middle of the day (available in the pool).

Award ceremony
The award ceremony will be held at the end of Friday July 22nd, approximately 19:00.

Location
The water polo competition will be held at the pool called Charlois. Please note that the inhabitants of Rotterdam pronounce this as ‘’Zaarloos’’ (which is not the way the French would pronounce the word…), check out www.rotterdamsportstad.nl/zwbcharlois. The pool is close to AHOY Rotterdam. Ahoy will host multiple sports and has bars/restaurants as well. The location, to the south of Rotterdam, can easily be reached by both public transport and car. The journey time to the city centre by metro is only 15 minutes.

Other important info
- Team will bring their owns caps and swimming gear
- Goals, balls, and all the other necessities for a water polo matches will be provided by the EuroGames
