Beachvolleyball

Introduction
Welcome to the beachvolleyball tournament at EuroGames. We are excited to be organising this great tournament and we will be happy to meet you in Rotterdam!

Anticipated number of participants
We will allow a maximum number of 150 participants.

Tournament rules
Beachvolleyball is played according to the international FIVB beachvolleyball rules. Interpretation or exceptions to the rules will be explained at the start of the tournament. The playing schedule depends on the number of participants, but the organisation will try its utmost to let each team play 5 games or more. Teams have to be prepared to referee matches in their own level.

Categories & Divisions
Participants can register for one of the 10 different playing levels of the tournament. The available levels are:

1. Male / mixed, 2x2 players, A (competitive) level
2. Male / mixed, 2x2 players, B+ (advanced) level
3. Male / mixed, 2x2 players, B- (recreational) level
4. Male / mixed, 3x3 players, B (advanced / recreational) level
5. Male / mixed, 3x3 players, C (recreational / beginners) level
6. Female, 2x2 players, A (competitive) level
7. Female, 2x2 players, B+ (advanced) level
8. Female, 2x2 players, B- (recreational) level
9. Female, 3x3 players, B (advanced / recreational) level
10. Female, 3x3 players, C (recreational / beginners) level

The organisations will make all effort to play at all mentioned levels but reserves the right to join levels in case too few teams register for one of the levels.

Teams playing at a 3x3 level are allowed to register a 4th substitute player. Substitute players are not allowed for teams playing at a 2x2 level.

Days of competition and type of tournament
The competition will be played both on Friday and Saturday. On Friday we will play a round-robin tournament, so each team will play about four or five matches. On Saturday we will play a knock-out system, where each team will play at least 2 matches. Your schedule on Saturday will depend on your results on Friday.

Award ceremony
On Saturday after the finals the award ceremony will be held. There will be medals in all categories.

Location
The location for the beachvolley competition is the central sports location AHOY Rotterdam. This venue will host multiple sports and has bars/restaurants. This location on the south part of Rotterdam is easily reached by both public transport as by car. It's only 15 minutes to the city centre by metro.

Registration
Registration requires the following steps:
1. First the team captain registers his/her team online using a 'beachvolley - team registration'.
2. The EuroGames organisation will add the team name to the list of beachvolley teams in the system. This may take a few days.
3. Once the team has been added, other team members can do a 'beachvolley - participant registration' to complete the team. Each member has to select his team during the participant registration.
