Introduction
Welcome to the badminton tournament at EuroGames. Badminton is always one of the most popular sports during EuroGames in the past.You will find a 3 day tournament for all levels and game categories. Unique for the Rotterdam tournament is that all participants will be on one location.

Anticipated number of participants
Our maximum number of participants is 450. Registration will be closed at this level.

Tournament rules
Tournament regulations will be in line with Badminton World Federation.

Type of tournament
Our tournament will be 3 days to ensure that all participants will have the opportunity to play a targeted minimum of 5 matches per day. Most categories therefor start of with a round robins and will continue as elimination round there after.

Categories & Divisions
Our tournament will be offered for men and women on levels A International, A, B+, B-, C+ and C- category.
Offered categories are Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles.
- Registration is only allowed in one level-category (For example: you can only register Singles B+ and not also in Singles B- at the same time).
- Combination of Singles and Mixed Doubles is not possible, as they will be played in the same time frame.
- You can register with a “Wanted” partner in doubles. The organisation will then find a partner in the same category based on availability.
- The organisation has the right to merge levels on low participation level during the round robins.
- The organisation has the right to change enrolled playing levels based on professional judgement.

Days of competition
Please note: the badminton tournament starts on THURSDAY 21 July and ends Saturday 23 July 2011 starting 9 AM finishing 17 PM.
The organisation aims to schedule the categories in logical order to prevent waiting times. This will be communicated upfront via the website. The organisation however cannot guarantee that you do not need to be present on one of the above competition days.

Award ceremony
On Saturday 23 July after all finals are played, the medal ceremony will be held. There are Gold, Silver and Bronze medals for all levels in all categories.

Location
The Badminton competition will take place in the central sports location AHOY Rotterdam. This venue will host multiple other sports and has bars/restaurants. This location on the south part of Rotterdam is also easily reached by both public transport as car. It’s only 15 minutes to the city centre by metro.

Other important info
- The round robins will be played 1 game (21 with extension) per match. Finals will be played best of three (21 with extension).
- The organisation has the right to increase best of three games if capacity and number of participants allow this.
- Most categories start of with a round robins and will continue as elimination round there after.
- The organisation has the right to merge levels on low participation level during the round robins.
- Finals will be played all on Saturday 23 JulyGames with players not present within a reasonable timeframe judged by organisation, will be marked as walk-over. This will guarentee a smooth tournament for all players.
