Introduction
Welcome to Running at  EuroGames 2011. Running has increased its popularity the last years and is practiced by a broad range of people of all ages and levels! It’s very simple: just put on your running shoes and some easy clothing… optional I-Phone and GPS… and off you go!


Rotterdam is just made for running-events. Flat, solid underground, and a lot of lovely parks to practice your running-exercises. Nowadays running is more and more considered to be a social happening. Where before people used to run as individuals there’s an upcoming tendency of running together. Even though running is an individual sport, we expect this running-event to be a social event as well!

This EuroGames, we organized three running-events for you: the 5 KM, the 10 KM and the half marathon. They all take place at RWC Ahoy, on a nice track situated in the north of Rotterdam, near Rotterdam The Hague Airport. For location details see the information below.


Categories & Divisions
There will be 3 categories: 5 km, 10 km and ½ marathon! There will be different age categories for both men and women: age-category 18-34, Cat. 35-39, Cat. 40-44, Cat. 45-49, and cat. 50+.

 

Competitive instances
1. 5 km (running 500mtrs to the finish and then 3 laps on a 1,5 KM track)
2. 10 km (running 1000mtrs tot the finish and then 6 laps on a 1,5 KM track)
3. ½ marathon (running 100mtrs to the finish and then: 14 laps on a 1,5 KM track)

 

Important note: participants are responsible to count their own laps on the circuit! Disqualification will follow in case you don’t accomplish the complete distances and laps. Every runner will receive a little gadget for free to easily help you count your laps!

 

Chips and start numbers

Every runner has to pay a guarantee of € 5,00 for using a personal chip of MyLaps. Please pay the exact amount. You will receive an envelope  for each distance you will run, you will get it by showing your accreditation pass at the service desk at RWC Ahoy. Hand in your personal chip  after each distance and you will receive your guarantee of €5,00 back. Your personal chip will register all your results. Please note that your chip is personal, registered on your name so it cannot be given to someone else. Your envelope contains:

  • Start number
  • 4 safety pins (for putting on your startnumber)
  • Chip (to register your results)
  • Little gadget to help you count your laps

Friday 22 th july

9:00 -11:45 : ½ marathon (man + women)

12:00 -13:15 : 10 KM women

13:30 -14:45 : 10 KM men (year of birth 1968 and older)

15:00 -16:15 : 10 KM men (year of birth 1969 and younger)

 

Saturday 23th july

12:00 -12:45 : 5 KM women

13:00 -13:45 : 5 KM men (year of birth 1967 and older)

14:00 -14:45 : 5 KM men (year of birth 1968 and younger)

Anticipated number of participants
maximum of participants about 150 each distance

Bronze, silver and gold medals for each category

Public transport to RWC Ahoy

There are 2 ways to get to RWC Ahoy by public transport, starting at Rotterdam Central Train Station (Rotterdam CS):

  1. At Rotterdam CS, take the subway E direction Den Haag. Departure every 15 minutes. Exit at station Meijersplein. Travel time from Rotterdam CS to Station Meijersplein approximately 8 minutes. From here, it’s a 15 minutes walk to RWC Ahoy (a map will be send to each runner by email)
  2. At Rotterdam CS, take the subway E direction Den Haag. Departure every 15 minutes. Exit at Station Rodenrijs. Travel time from Rotterdam CS to Station Rodenrijs approximately 10 minutes. From here, it’s a 10 minutes walk to RWC Ahoy (a map will be send to each runner by email)

- The organization is not liable for any accident or theft.

- By registering you acknowledge that the 13th EuroGames 2011 and the tournament organization are not liable for any damage that may occur to your person or your belongings as a result of your attendance at or participation to the tournament and associated events. By registering you declare that you are physically fit enough to participate.

- The EuroGames 2011 Rotterdam organization will take care of your personal start number and a personal chip which registers your results.

- Unfortunately, it's not possible to use your own chip.

- Important note: participants are responsible to count their own laps on the closed circuit! Disqualification will follow in case you don’t accomplish the complete distances and laps.
