Hockey
Introduction
The level of players is very diverse, but the only requirement for registration is that you have played the game before. Individuals without a team can be matched with one.
The PinkHockey championship will include a men’s and a women’s division. A Mixed completion is an option in case one of the divisions is sort of players or teams. Both divisions will play a preliminary and medal round.
Anticipated number of participants
The PinkHockey championship during the 13th EuroGames 2011 will welcome max. 16 teams (8 girls & 8 men’s).
Teams consist out of minimum 13 and maximum 15 players (incl. 1 goalie).
Tournament rules
The rules of the International Hockey Federation (IFH) will apply.
The tournament organization withholds the right to modify the rules in the interest of the tournament.
Type of tournament
- There are two parts to the competition:
A preliminary round and a medal round. The preliminary round will be held in a half round robin format where each team plays every other team.
The competition will then proceed to medal playoffs and continuing rounds. The teams ranked 1st and 2nd will be playing the final. The teams ranked 3rd and 4th will play for the bronze medal and the teams ranked 5th and 6th will play for the 5th place..
- Participants are guaranteed to play at least five games in the tournament.
- All the matches during the PinkHockey tournament will be played on a full pitch and 2x30 minutes with a 10 minutes halftime break.
Categories & Divisions
- Women competition.
- Men competition.
- Mixed competition (Option if there are not enough teams in one of the categories).
Days of competition
Thursday 21 July till Saturday 23 July 2011:
- Thursday & Friday from 10h00 until 17h00: preliminary rounds.
- Saturday from 10h00 until 18h00: medal rounds.
The final Field Hockey schedule will be posted on www.pinkhockey.com at the end of registration in (mid June) 2011.
Award ceremony
Bronze, silver and gold medals for male, female & mixed competition.
Location
Victoria sports centre (Kralingseweg 226, Rotterdam) among other sports.
Other important info
Everyone is welcome to join the PinkHockey championship - as long you are a field hockey player you are more than welcome to join us. It is not important whether you are a good hockey player or just a beginner. Enjoyment is the most important requirement. Individual players are always welcome so if you are not a teammember or don’t know anyone we can help you find a team.We expect to welcome players from England, Germany, Switzerland, The Netherlands, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Scotland, USA, Belgium, Italy, Spain and Argentina.
The organization is not liable for any accident or theft.
All forms of insurance are the responsibility of the participant.
By registering you acknowledge that the 13th EuroGames 2011 and the PinkHockey tournament organization are not liable for any damage that may occur to your person or your belongings as a result of your attendance at or participation to the tournament and associated events. By registering you declare that you are physically fit enough to participate.
