Location
We are proud to be guests of golf course ‘de Rottebergen’, an 18-holes course with A-list-status. De Rottebergen (http://www.golfbaanderottebergen.nl/) is the home course of golf club ‘De Hooge Bergsche’ and European Tour professional Joost Luiten. The course is situated on the river Rotte and belongs to the magnificent Rottemerengebied, an area of outstanding natural beauty, just north of Rotterdam.
The challenging course covers 600.000 m2 of terrain with impressive ponds, mature woodland and bush. The unique character of this golf course is due to its ridge of around 25 meters high. This hill transforms the area from the typical Dutch landscape surrounding it. The holes are varied and will challenge both beginners and professional golfers. The course remains challenging, regardless of how many times it is played.
The course design is by architect Gerard Jol (EIGCA senior member / Jol Golf design). In 1989, De Rottebergen was one of his first assignments as an independent golf-architect and is still regarded one of his best designs. Both the course and the club were given high ratings in surveys: recently the influential Golfers Magazine rated the course with three stars. In this survey the course directly followed De Noordwijkse and De Haagsche, in the province of Zuid-Holland.
Golf course De Rottebergen is managed sustainably according to the ‘Best Course for Golf’ programme. The international governing body of golf has developed this programme: the R&A (Royal and Ancient). This organisation aims to guarantee the traditional and timeless values that make golf unique. In a ‘modern traditional’ way, we try to interpret and execute these values on a daily basis at out golf course. We are dedicated to ‘the True Spirit of the Game’.
