Bridge

Introduction
We sincerely invite you to participate in the bridge tournaments of the EuroGames. Whether you are a beginner, or a world class player, we will do our utmost to provide you with a challenging and rewarding experience. It is possible to register without a partner, we will help you find one or assign one to you.

Anticipated number of participants
Did you know that the Netherlands are the second largest bridge nation in the world after the USA? We expect a large number of contestants of between sixty and one hundred and twenty pairs.

Tournament rules
The 2007 Laws of Duplicate Bridge apply as well as the System Policy of the World Bridge Laws Federation (http://www.worldbridge.org/departments/systems/policy.asp). The EuroGames will be classified as a Category 3 event. Participants need two fully filled out system cards.

Type of tournament
There will be two one-day tournaments. On Friday the 22nd of July we organize a tournament with IMP (Butler) scoring, on Saturday the 23rd with matchpoint scoring. Participants can register for one or for both tournaments.

Categories & Divisions
You are asked to classify yourself as either a beginning player, a normal club player, a strong club player, or a national/international player (‘Club’ does not refer to the club suit, but to the fact that you are playing regularly). The field will be divided in an A section (for the two strongest categories) and a B section (for the lower categories) .

Days of competition
Friday and Saturday

Award ceremony
There will be gold, silver and bronze medals in both the A and B sections for each separate tournament.

Location
In the Ahoy complex, the conference section. A bar is present in the playing venue.

Other important info
You can register without a partner. If you allow us to send your email to individual participants of the same strength you can see if there is a match with a partner beforehand. Alternatively we will organize a ‘Meet and Greet’ on Thursday the 21st of July in the centre of Rotterdam where you can try and find a partner for the tournaments, or we will assign a partner of the same strength to you on the day of the tournament itself. Take care to arrive early as we demand fully filled in system cards.
