Board and management visit Budapest

June 2010 | At the invitation of the organizers of EuroGames Budapest 2012, Ariadne, Barbara, Miki, Rodney and Hans made an excursion to Budapest from June 18^th till 20^th.
As you may know the Rotterdam- and the Budapest-team work together on: ICT, Volunteers, Marketing & Communications and Sponsoring.

Rodney and Hans travelled ahead so they could have a nice bath at the famous public-baths Rudas (visit if you’re in the neighbourhood) and catch the soccer game (Netherlands-Japan).

On friday-evening we were welcomed by Andras Boylan (president of EuroGames 2012) and Gabor Laszlo (co-president). The badminton-group of FRIGO (who took the initiative) was having a ‘last-training-of-the-season-drink’ in a (for us) well-known pub: Bobek. There we had to inform them that Niels Holgerson is not Dutch, an announcement that ruined the dream of one of them. It was great meeting our Hungarian friends again after such a long time.

On Saturday we started early, having a meeting and next to Andras, Gabor and us, met with Victoria and Attila. The meeting was very interesting and productive. We know each other better now and are really able to discuss things in a really good way. We talked about:

• Promoting EuroGames during Gay Games Cologne
• Signing the contracts with EGLSF during the Budapest Splash (August 19^th – 22^nd)
• European Sponsorship on in closure of gay athletes and volunteers
• Planning of Outreach
• Commercial Sponsoring
• IT-development
• Human Rights Conference
• Best practices

The afternoon we spent getting to know Budapest better. It was Barbara’s and Ariadne’s first visit. Miki proudly showed off his hometown, a job you can imagine he enjoyed very much. In the evening we had diner at Gabors and Antti-Jussi and joined the Budapest Museum Night.

The morning after we took the minutes of the meeting and discussed them with our Hungarian friends over brunch at Andras’ place. There we met with Gabriella (board member EGLSF) and filled her in with the details of our meeting as well. After that we had to hurry and buy some Palinka on the Airport for Louise who could not join us.
