Pink Seniors and Rotterdam Noord in movement

In the morning a short tandem ride was made in the North District with balloon decorated bikes. A number of local politicians came along and joined the festivities at the building of Humanitas Bergweg. The crowd grew to about 300 people. The director of Humanitas Bergweg, Andre Jager, welcomed every one and mentioned that the North District has won a special reward.

Diversity

The North District of Rotterdam, is the only district that organizes activities for sexual diversity, next to the organization of the Eurogames. “Diversity is import in the North District of Rotterdam, that is why we are very proud of this reward” said Ahmed Harika, Alderman in Rotterdam Noord. The atrium of Humanitas Bergweg was made up with loads of pink balloons and garlands. Two dozen tables were filled with people of all ages, also dressed in pink.

Performances

Singers Joke Bruijs en Harry Slinger from Drukwerk filled the programme. Olga Commandeur, known from the TV exercise show 'Nederland beweegt', lead everyone present to do all kinds of exercises. The choir Salon Humanitas performed also. It was a festive afternoon, with attention to the elder LGBTs.

Stand still

Initiator Martijn van der Valk, Junior Council Member for the Dutch Labour Party in the North District, quoted: “It’s this generation that paved the road and made things a lot easier for the younger generation. We need to acknowledge this from time to time.”
