Same-sex marriage celebrates 10th Dutch anniversary
On April 1st 2000 breaking news from Amsterdam made the headlines worldwide, as the Mayor of Amsterdam closed four same-sex marriages simultaneously precisely at midnight. This was the result of the Dutch Parliaments’ approval of the Same-Sex Marriage Law a few months earlier, making the Netherlands the first country in the world to give full marriage rights to gays and lesbian.
This Thursday openly gay Mayor of Dordrecht Arno Brok opened a special exhibition in the Sport Boulevard to celebrate 10 years of same-sex marriage. This small but interesting multimedia exhibition can be visited for free during the EuroGames swimming tournament.
