Everything you really need to know

In a few days time the EuroGames will begin! Here is a quick run-down on all the things you need to know, so that you do not miss out on anything. 

Need to know
There are a few things you really need to know, and some that are just nice to know. Let’s start with the important matters – the need to know.

Public transportation
For using public transportation you need a so-called OV-chipkaart; in case you do not have one, then we suggest buying the Welcome Card. This card does not only give you free use of the public transportation within Rotterdam but also comes with a city map and discount coupons. You can order the card via: http://www.eurogames2011.eu/en/rotterdam/transport/welcome-card. For any other questions regarding public transportation in Rotterdam, please visit the website of the RET. Please note: Metro D, Rotterdam CS to Beurs is not running during the EuroGames. You can take the tram. to go to Beurs and take Metro D in the direction to Ahoy.

Shuttle bus
Some sports are held outside of Rotterdam; swimming, for instance, takes places in Dordrecht. Apart from the standard public transportation there will also be a special shuttle bus from Ahoy Stadium to Dordrecht. For more information as to the timetable, please check upon accreditation.

Parking
Most of Rotterdam is now a paid parking zone. The parking meters do not accept cash, only a “chipknip” (which is only available on a debit card of a Dutch bank) or Credit Card. Most convenient is it to park either in a parking garage or near the Ahoy Stadium.

Materials
Most sports require special materials, clothing and/or gear. Make sure you take with you to the EuroGames all the materials required  - see also the regulations you received when enrolling. If you are unsure as to what to bring, then please consult with the coordinator of your sport.

Safety
It goes without saying that the EuroGames organisation does it the utmost to ensure that the EuroGames will run smoothly. But we do recommend not taking any unnecessary risks. Be a good sport, and take care of each other, and of your belongings. Use the lockers you will find at various locations – for more details please check the program.

Tickets
For some events and parties pre-ordering of tickets is required. Don’t be late, or you will miss out! So buy your tickets for the following events now via our website:

Apps
Do you have a smart phone? Then surely install some handy apps. For those with a QR-reader, make sure you install Twoppy. Theme of the EuroGames 2011 is ‘Show Your COLOUR’. So, dive in your wardrobe and pick out the most colourful outfit you can find! We aim at turning Ahoy Stadium during the opening ceremony into one big sparkling rainbow and hope that you will shine with us.
