'Outreach Programme' remains necessary

Outreach_1An important part of the EuroGames Outreach Programme is to support athletes who are otherwise unable to participate. And if you wonder if this is not an exaggeration in this day and age, the answer is no. Read Tonci's story about Pride in Split, Croatia and you will agree with us that the Outreach Programme is still desperately needed.

The Programme
The Outreach Programme has always played a prominent role during the EuroGames. The main goal of the programme is to assist athletes who otherwise might not be able to participate. Sometimes financial resources needed are not available, the political situation in their home country does not allow or simply there are no clubs in their homeland making participation impossible. Now you may think that it does not happen these days, it is after all 2011, but read the story of Tonci from Croatia and our Russian ambassador Kostantin and you will come to the conclusion that the Outreach Programme is still desperately needed.

Unique chance
Konstantin Yablotskiy, Russian Team Ambassador: "Everybody in our team gradually becomes more excited as the EuroGames get closer and closer. In total 45 Russian people will participate for the first time in the EuroGames this year thanks to the OutReach programme. They have been training very hard last months in order to compete with other Europeans in the atmosphere of happiness, tolerance and love. For all Russian participants, the EuroGames will give the courage which will make them stronger in terms of human rights and self-acceptance first of all. We are very thankful to the EuroGames team for this unique chance to feel ourselves as we are."
