Sports Massage at the EuroGames 2011

sportmassageMany sportsmen and - women will be familiar with the concept of massage in a sports context. Sport can unfortunately be a risky business, and injury sometimes seems commonplace. But injuries should not be regarded as inevitable. Good technique, sufficient warming-up and sports massage, amongst other things, can reduce the risk. In the past sports massage was a luxury available to only the real top sportspersons. Fortunately, this is changing, and many more sportspersons can take advantage of massage. Massage can help before and/or after a competition.

The good news is that sports massage is very well managed in the Netherlands. Even better news is that this country’s main sports massage body, the NGS, is collaborating fully with the EuroGames. As a sportsperson you really are in good hands! Every day a number of qualified sports masseurs will be in attendance at different sites. You are welcome between 10.00 and 17.30 hours. You simply sign up on the spot for a massage (you might well be able to get on a table straightaway). A 15-minute massage costs € 10 (they work in 20-minute sessions). You can also choose for half-an-hour, and in some cases you can opt for taping in addition to or instead of massage. Even if, unfortunately, you don’t normally get the chance to experience sports massage, grab the opportunity here at the EuroGames with both hands! Go for it!
