FAQs - All FAQs
Where will the EuroGames 2011 be held?

The 26 sports will be held in various sports venues in or near Rotterdam in the Netherlands. All sports will be held within a short distance of each other and will be accessible by public transport. This will allow athletes to watch other sports and spectators to travel between venues.

Most of the sports will be held in Ahoy, the Topsportcentrum, the Kralingse Plas and the swimming facilities in Dordrecht.

Can I participate as a Non-European citizen?

EuroGames is predominantly intended for citizens of Europe but non-Europeans are welcome to participate as well. But if a non-European citizen wins the tournament he/she will receive a medal but not the title of European Champion.

What else is planned?

During the EuroGames multiple culture events will take place in Rotterdam, like live bands, dancing, arts, photography, stand-up comedians, et cetera. This will take place within a short distance of the sport venues.

What is the registration fee I need to pay for participation?

The fee will depend on when you register (the earlier the cheaper) and if you are a member of the EGLSF (European Gay and Lesbian Sports Federation). Please follow the link http://www.eurogames2011.eu/en/register-now for the details on the fee.

Depending on the sport, the spots available may fill-up quickly. Therefore a timely registration is also advisable. This is particularly important for sports where the number of participants is limited.

Is the registration fee for all sports the same?

The fee is the same for all sports, except for Golf, for which you have to pay a higher fee (see http://www.eurogames2011.eu/en/my-eurogames) the second table.

How do I need to pay the registration fee?

There are two ways to pay the fee:

- Transfer the money from your bank account to the EuroGames2011 International Bank Account Number (IBAN) NL24RABO0108465896. The BIC/SWIFT code to use is RABONL2U.

- Use your credit cart for payment.

What is included in the registration fee?

Included in your fee is:

Participation in one sporting event
Participation of the Wednesday Night Skate event
Opening ceremony
Closing ceremony
Free entrance of the symposium and congress

Is it possible to register for two sport events?

It is now possible for the following 4 sports (running, waterpolo, synchronized swimming and swimmig) to register for an extra sport until July 10. It is only possible if you are already registered for one of the 4 mentioned sports and choose one of the 4 sports. Other extra sports (e.g. football, chess) it is not possible.

For example: Im registered as a volleybal player and I want to take part in running, that is NOT possible. I am playing waterpolo and I would like to swim? That is possible, but be aware that the swimming event is not intervering with your waterpolo. I registered for running and I would like to play bridge? NOT possible.

In all times EuroGames cannot guarantee that no last minute changes will be made and therefore participation can only take place of one sport.

How can I make changes in my registration (eg. change of sport)?

If you would like to change your sport, please send an email to info@eurogames2011.eu with your name and registrationnumber clearly explaining your request and it will be amended.

For all other adjustments in your registration (eg. level you would like to participate in) you are able to login to your registration again and amend it yourself.

Can I reclaim my registration fee when I have to withdraw from the EuroGames?

Registration as a participant in the EuroGames is to be regarded as definitive, and under no circumstances whatsoever will someone who has registered be able to reclaim the registration fee.

In exceptional circumstances it may be possible for someone to arrange for a substitute. Very strict criteria must be satisfied in such a case.

These criteria are as follows:

  • Only on personal physical medical grounds may you arrange for someone else to take your place. No other reason whatsoever will be taken into consideration.
  • You will under no circumstances get your money back.
  • You must submit to the EuroGames’ organization a doctor’s statement bearing the name (typed) and the signature of the doctor. Please email this to dispensation@eurogames2011.eu and info@eurogames2011.eu
  • The doctor must be contactable via the internet. Information relevant to this must be submitted as part of or along with the doctor’s statement and must include the telephone numbers and e-mail addresses of the doctor so that the EuroGames organizers can, if deemed necessary, make further enquiries regarding the statement.
  • The statement is compiled in English or Dutch.
  • The statement must include the medical indication relevant to participation in the EuroGames and the reason why this renders such participation impossible.
  • The statement must also indicate when the injury or other medical condition occurred or first became apparent, and the anticipated recovery period.
  • The name of your substitute must be mentioned at the time the application is made.
  • The substitute participates in the same branch of sport (e.g., swimming or synchronized swimming, or football).
  • The substitute will pay any difference in registration fee between the date of your initial registration and the date of the substitute’s registration.
  • Substitution is not possible once registrations have closed.

Should one of the above conditions not be fulfilled, no exception will be made and the request will therefore not be considered.

How do I arrange hosted housing?

What does "outreach" mean?

An important part of the EuroGames has always been the so-called "outreach programme". Its aim is to enable at least some of those gays and lesbians to participate in the EuroGames, who would, because of the general political conditions in their home countries, their financial situation or due to the lack of national organisations in their home countries, otherwise not be able to participate.

The outreach program offers financial and logistic support to guarantee a diverse group of EuroGames participants.

How can I participate in the Outreach Program?

Please tick the Outreach box at your registration.

Also visit http://www.eurogames2011.eu/en/eurogames/outreach and apply by sending in the OutReach Application Form.

Where do I need to go for any press inquiries?

Journalists, photographers and camera teams can apply for accreditation for the EuroGames and the COLOUR Festival through the registration system. Accreditation provides access to all parts of the event, all necessary information and support by the Marketing & Communications department.

You can pick up your press badge from July 20 at the EuroGames Press Room in the Rotterdam City Theatre, Schouwburgplein 25 in downtown Rotterdam. Here you will be asked to show an official ID as well as proof that you are a representative of the press: that can be your national press card, but may also be an original proof of identity letter from your editor or a print of a colophon with your name listed.
