Diephuis

Diephuis is represented by B-JAZZ, recognizable by his striking love for soulful housemusic. Dedicated to build an atmosphere in which his passion and love for housemusic reveals itself, influences of funk, soul, disco and jazz come to life. His fascination for this kind of music started in the late nineties. Inspired by dj's like Louie Vega, Joaquin 'Joe' Claussell, Kerri Chandler and later on Osunlade, Karizma and Dennis Ferrer he more and more developed a special interest for house orientated music.
B-JAZZ real name Barend-Jan Beljaars was born in Rotterdam. From a young age he was always been listening to all kinds of music. When he was 14 years old he started taking piano lessons. 1 year later he bought his first turntables and equipment to make music. When he got a residency as a dj in Rotterdam club 'Hyper Hyper" he started to really think about a career in the music business.
Together with 3 friends they decided to throw up their own party in Club Rotterdam. Diephuis was born!

Knowing each other for a long time and missing their kind of housemusic in Rotterdam they decided to join forces. They enjoyed playing together and felt the musical chemistry. Diephuis was continued as a dj duo and they had the privilege to play together with guys like Kerri Chandler, Dennis Ferrer and DJ Spinna in their hometown Rotterdam. But also at several SOULHEAVEN parties with Karizma, Mr. V. and Osunlade at the Stereo Sushi in Antwerp, Belgium. They have been residents of the succesfull clubnight named LOOKS! at The Thalia in Rotterdam for 2 years. The last years as a duo they played in almost every club in The Netherlands

In the beginning of 2008 Diephuis started making their own music under the inspiring control of producer B-JAZZ. He build his own backyard studio where he develops his producing skills while working with live musicians, singers and other dj/producers.

In october 2009 Diephuis released their first E. P. called Deeproots on Afrazoo. At this moment Diephuis is working on several projects with well respected artists, dj's and musicians like Stephanie Cooke, Jephte Guillaume, Joaquin "Joe" Claussell, Lucien Foort, Leroy Styles, Manoo, Jose Carretas, Mr V & Rob van de Wouw.

After 6 years playing together as Diephuis, Maarten & Jos decided to focus on other business. B-JAZZ decided to keep on doing what he loves, making music and playing it. Music is what he says: "My life and passion."
